Key Takeaways
  • App will be web-based, and available to all customers, including those in the US.
  • Limited “preview release” before wider release to public, with real money and support for other devices “coming soon.”
  • Thought to be first US-facing site with a mobile offering.

Carbon Poker, a poker room on the Merge Gaming Network, is expected to soon launch an online poker mobile client, the first of its kind for a US-facing network.

“Our mobile poker client is now about to be pushed live,” site representative “CarbonRyan” announced late last week on Carbon’s customer forum on 2+2.

The app has finished final testing, and Carbon are looking for a few players “interested in being involved in a first preview” ahead of a wider release to the public.

The initial version will only be available for players on the iPhone or iPod touch and will be limited to play money games. Real money games should become available soon, along with support for players with an iPad or an Android device.

The app is web-based, not native, a Carbon Poker rep has confirmed with pokerfuse. This will avoid restrictions with the Apple Store so all customers—including those in the US—will be able to use the mobile app when it launches for real money.
